Have you ever done it in zero G?
GENRE: M/M, sci-fi
RATING: 4 Sweet Peas!
BLURB: When a theft goes wrong and Jared finds himself under arrest, his daring escape results in an extra passenger. Richard Kuiper the Seventh does not appreciate being magnetically handcuffed to a common criminal, even if he does enjoy the chance to indulge his sexual appetites guilt free.
Hiding out with some old friends of Jared’s while they attempt to unlock the handcuffs, a bond grows between the two men that’s more than magnetic, but Jared’s initial mistrust comes back to haunt him. When the cuffs are removed Richard storms off, straight into a trap, and now Jared must decide what he’s willing to risk for a man he’s barely known for a week: his life, certainly, but his heart? He’s never risked that before.
LUCKY’S OPINION: Jared is a crook. He won’t deny it. It’s not something he’s particularly proud of, but it got him out of the life he had before. Now? If he finds a way to escape before he’s locked up, he’ll be happy. And this is how we begin our tale. Jared’s been trying to steal something and got caught. He’s got a handcuff on that is high-tech and meant to lock the criminal to the arm of the law. This time, though, that doesn’t happen and Jared takes full advantage of it. He grabs a man, intending on keeping him hostage until he’s free. Unfortunately, said man also locks the cuff to himself, ensuring that Jared and Richard Kuiper the Seventh are inseparable.
As they make their way to a caravan (think self-sustaining space station) they…um…bond. In zero G. Richard admits that he’s intrigued with Jared and wants Jared to take him along, free him from his responsibilities back home. Jared agrees.
Upon reaching the caravan, they take jobs temporarily, until the blacksmith can safely remove the band and Richard and Jared can figure out a way to keep Jared alive (who knew the penalty for kidnapping someone important was death?)
A misunderstanding causes Richard to decide it’s time to part ways with Jared. Unfortunately (and doesn’t Richard’s luck just suck?) there is someone waiting for Richard that doesn’t have the same plans for him that Jared did.
Will Jared risk his own life to save Richard’s? Will Richard agree that he needs Jared? Will the two of them ever get their heads out of their butts to say those words each is dying to say?
You’ll have to read it to find out. It’s quite the ride.
